Set painting for the National Opera & Ballet.

Started my career as a set painter for the National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam, 24 years ago.

I mastered different painting technics such as the traditional way to paint sets.

The canvasses are usually huge so we put the canvas on the floor and paint with brushes on long sticks, using big trolleys with big paint buckets and we mix our paint on iron pallets. We are standing on top of our canvasses and that’s the way we paint.

Sounds great right. Besides painting the sets for The Netherlands, we made and still are making sets that go all across the world, Paris, Sidney, New York, Denmark, Barcelona, you name it I probably made it!

An overview of some stage designs I have been working on.
